Serra Plaza Wedding Venue
History of the Serra Plaza Wedding Venue
If you are into an updated and modern outdoor venue with an old-world feel and charm, then Serra Plaza is the place for you. It is nestled in the historic downtown of San Juan Capistrano City in Orange County, which was originally a part of the San Juan Capistrano Mission established in 1769 and 1833. Nowadays, it is considered to be one of the symbols of Old California. You will surely fall in love with the Spanish-style architecture and stone-paved outdoor spaces.
Details on the grounds
This wedding venue is surrounded by Spanish Revival architecture that lends the whole place an elegant touch. You can immediately distinguish the building with its plain stone exterior and red tile roof. This exudes so much of a vintage vibe that you would surely love to incorporate into the theme of your special day.
Whether you are going for a micro wedding or a grand one, this venue can accommodate all your preferences. The Plaza’s tree-laden courtyard has a maximum capacity of 450 guests with enough space for parking. Not to mention how you will love the gorgeous areas available for your use at this location.
Grand Courtyard of the Serra Plaza Wedding Venue
This is the most famous location for wedding ceremonies due to its spacious nature. You can use the bubbling courtyard fountain or any area that you desire as your focal point. What’s great about this is that you can truly have an intimate wedding as they only cater for one wedding per day. This means you get to have the whole place to yourself!
You can also have your reception here for a more romantic setup. Why not dine al fresco for a natural feeling. Or even under the stars with the strands of bistro lights illuminating the entire place. Your special day will surely be picture perfect at the Serra Plaza.
Do you prefer an indoor setup? Salon Patio is a great space for a micro wedding. Just imagine being in front of a timeless and classy stone fireplace while you say your vows to the love of your life in front of your closest family and friends. Sounds good, right?
The impeccable French-inspired bridal suite is perfect for getting ready photos with its impressive windows and natural lighting. In addition to that, the suite is a beautifully light, airy room with elegantly designed crystal chandeliers, floor-length mirrors, and wooden floors. Although, there is not enough room to accommodate big groups and it is only available two hours before the ceremony starts. Also, there’s a small room that can be provided to the groom, but you will have to ask the management in advance regarding this.
General Wedding Details
The Serra Plaza is a dreamy wedding location that offers the perfect canvas to allow you to be as creative as you want on your wedding theme. The Plaza is a stunning location and it’s easy to picture yourself getting married at this iconic fountain spot. But, if you’re planning to have your special day here, you need to consider some rules and restrictions.
All outdoor music must end by 10pm but you can carry on indoors and keep the party going until 1am. A venue that allows a party that late is hard to find!
Another thing to consider is that you are only allowed to choose from their preferred list of food vendors. Outside caterers and outside alcohol is not allowed due to the venue’s liquor license. You might also want to hire someone to collect all the trash after the event as they are also strict about this.
Another awesome element is that you can hire your own photographer and you can also get the following amenities when you rent the place out:
- an outdoor area that can accommodate 450 guests
- parking lot with 269 parking spaces
- use of the bridal suite
- tables and chairs for 200 persons included (additional will cost extra)
- a patio with a stone fireplace
- bistro lighting in the evening
The wedding cost can vary from $5000 to $7000 depending on the number of guests and the number of extra services you added. There is also an incremental fee for security with weddings having more than 200 attendees. This charge is not optional and includes a deposit that will be given back to you as long as no damages are incurred in the property. You can find more details on what to expect on their website.
My takeaway of Serra Plaza as a Wedding Venue
Whether you want an intimate wedding or a large-scale one, this place is highly recommended by a photographer like me because every area of this place is so magical to capture. It is easy to have a high-end look at this venue. Mixed with my film-like, fine art vibe, the two are a winning combination. Were you looking for something like this?
