Hi, I'm Amy.

My search for a Southern California Boudoir Photographer

Southern California Boudoir Photographer

Last week, you might have seen that I launched a Boudoir side of my business. It was not a spur-of-the-moment idea. I have wanted to be a top Southern California Boudoir Photographer for years.

In 2017, I took a lighting and posing course at the California Digital Arts Academy in Downtown Santa Ana. I learned a lot and it really got me excited. However, when I went to test a few studios, the vibe wasn’t quite right. I was still learning my style and although the images were beautiful, they weren’t cohesive with the rest of my work. So, I pushed the creativity down and for years have tried to ignore it feeling like it might burst but waiting patiently until the time was right.

Fast forward 5 years to early in 2022. I decided to step in front of the camera and book a boudoir shoot for myself and as a surprise Valentine’s Day gift for my husband. I searched and searched and couldn’t find a Southern California Boudoir Photographer that had a similar style to mine, light/airy, film-like, romantic, and soft.

One day, while randomly scrolling through Instagram, I noticed a photographer that I love and have worked with in the past was offering mini-boudoir sessions. “Sign me up!” without hesitation I booked it. This photographer in particular had moved to Colorado last year, so I was happy and surprised to see her offering sessions in Southern California. Her style was exactly what I was looking for.

The session was AWESOME! I felt so sexy, empowered, a little scared, but also confident. It especially helped that I trusted the photographer completely because I already knew I loved her style and eye. Making sure your vision matches up to your photographer’s style is really important. I definitely did my homework in this area to find another Southern California Boudoir Photographer who was on my level.

A few weeks later, I got the photos back and the first thing I said was, “Who is THIS!? Who IS this!? That can’t be me!” The more I looked I thought, “Okay girl, I see you. I see what you are workin with.” My husband was also completely surprised and taken back by the images. It was awesome catching him completely off guard.

From that point on, I felt like I couldn’t contain the excitement and creative push anymore. I saw my images, I felt the feelings, and I wanted to gift that to others right away. It also just so happened that a natural light studio opened up in Huntington Beach right at the beginning of the pandemic. I couldn’t wait to shoot there. It was just what I was looking for to add to my light, natural, and fine-art style. Was I going to be able to pull off all of the creative visions in my head? Answer: Yes. Yes, yes, yes! The images came out absolutely perfect!

So far, I have shot 3 sessions and I can’t wait to shoot more. It feels so good to try something new, step out of my comfort zone, and add this awesome service to my repertoire. I am so passionate about helping women (especially moms like me) reconnect with their sexy self. Being a Southern California Boudoir Photographer is so much more than just providing amazing images. I also want to gift women with that empowerment and gift of feeling themselves again!

If you have ever thought, “I’d like to do that someday.” Let me tell you, today is the day! Like me, you definitely aren’t getting any younger and we need to seize these opportunities while we can! Join me! Come check out my page and portfolio and let’s do it!
