Casa Romantica – Wedding Venue Details
History of Casa Romantica Wedding Venue
Casa Romantica was constructed as the primary residence of Ole Hanson in 1927. Ole Hanson commissioned Carl Lindbom to build his dream Spanish Colonia Revival home by the sea. San Clemente was in its infancy and it was the first master-planned city in the entire state of California. Ole Hanson’s vision for a “Spanish Village by the Sea” can still be seen in the surrounding architecture and design. His influence also stretches to Ole Hanson Beach Club, another popular wedding venue approximately 1.5 miles north of the Casa. After a turn of owners, the San Clemente Historical Society fought hard to keep the location and it is now owned and operated as a Cultural Center and Gardens. The Casa is non-profit so all proceeds go into education, experiences in art, history, music, and learning for all ages.
One of the first things guests notice as they step onto the grounds is the beauty of the gardens and classic Spanish architecture of the Casa. As a member of the American Horticulture Society, the 2.5-acre grounds feature stunning coastal landscaping some of which were planted by Ole Hanson himself in the ’20s! The second and biggest selling point of the Casa, the oceanfront bluff-top views. You can’t find views like this elsewhere. Guests can watch the waves roll in while they sip their cocktails and enjoy a classic California sunset as well. It is no wonder Wedding Wire rated Orange County in its Top 10 US Destinations for a Beach Wedding, noting Casa Romantica as a top venue in Orange County to check out.
The Courtyard is the heart of the Casa. An atrium-style area surrounded by beautiful Spanish archways, hand-crafted tiles, and well-kept foliage. Hosting a reception and dinner at this location, you don’t have to worry about the elements. It is protected from coastal wind and the climate is enjoyable almost all year round. No need to worry about rain either because it can easily be tented.
The Main Salon
The Main Salon is the primary indoor location on the premises. Its clean white walls, archways, and hand-painted tiles and wood floors, give a classy and timeless warmth. Guests can enjoy drinks, view historic photos of the Casa, and kick off their shoes, and dance on the dancefloor. The bridal suite and groom’s parlor are both located off of the Main Salon and are very tastefully designed and decorated. All three indoor locations photograph beautifully with their classic white, clean walls.
The “wow factor”! Where else can your guest look out and see ocean lines for miles? Framed by beautiful gardens and fresh crisp air, this is the view that makes Casa Romantica a true California, Ocean Front Venue.
The Story Circle
The Story Circle is a small intimate space overlooking the southwest side of the property. It can be the perfect location for a couple to enjoy a few quiet minutes together during their couples’ portraits, a backdrop for wedding party photos, or a location for an intimate wedding ceremony. Lined with native plants and greenery along with the ocean views it is another element that sets the Casa apart from others.
